Excited that we completed this little project last weekend! My grandfather built us this sweet bookcase and gave it to us for Christmas! He used the wood from one of his old bookcases he had from school. Something about a hand made gift makes it so much more special! He wasn't sure what color paint or stain we would want so he kept the wood raw so we could finish it however we wanted.
This is how the book case looked when we started...
We started off sanding everything and then wiping it all down to remove any excess sawdust. I decided to do a mix of paint and stain to give the shelf a more modern look. We used white for white for the sides and back and then used Varathane- Flagstone stain for the top and shelving.
We decided to put the bookcase in our guest room, so all that was left to do (my fave part) was to style everything up real pretty! Super happy with how it turned out, adds a cozy feel to the guest room that it was lagging before!
